Phishing
Phishing is a form of online fraud that aims to maliciously obtain valuable information from users. E-mails and webpages are created to look exactly like a trusted brand in order to fool users into handing over information. This type of behaviour is now commonplace on the Internet and causing serious problems for unsuspecting users.Dewgraze does not trade, rent, or sell any personal information collected on this website. We will never contact you requesting personal or sensitive information such as credit card numbers or passwords. If you are suspicious any communication claiming to originate from Dewgraze, please contact us immediately at phishing@dewgraze.com and delete the material.
How to Identify Phishing and Protect Yourself
Beware of e-mails asking you to update your profile either within the e-mail or through a website. If it's too late and you have already replied to a fake e-mail or used a fake website, please report it to us immediately at phishing@dewgraze.com. Spotting a hoax is mostly done using common sense, but as phishing is becoming more sophisticated, you need to be vigilant and take extra care.In the first instance check the "From" address field of an e-mail to see if it's come from a genuine source. If this address looks in any way suspicious, delete the e-mail. Bear in mind that simply looking at the "From" address of an e-mail is not a reliable way to tell where the e-mail has come from as it can easily be altered. The e-mail can still be fake even if the "From" field looks genuine.
Any e-mail sent with a sense of urgency e.g. threatening to lock your account unless your update some information, should be treated with caution.
Do not click on links within an e-mail just because the URL reads legitimately. The link text often masks the true destination of the URL. Your browser may be able to help you out by displaying the real URL in the bottom status bar when you hover your mouse over the link in the e-mail. If the text between the e-mail link and the URL displayed by your browser don't match then you can be sure its a fake.
